Starchaser
 Starchaser
is a 47ft ketch and features beautiful timber decks, polished timber
rails, plenty of cushioned seating, a toilet, shaded area –
all the comforts needed to cater for the Top End climate.
She was launched in 1993 and has competed in several ocean races
including 1st place in the Coral Sea Classic cruising division.
Starchaser was designed by a renowned Adelaide designer with an
old world feel above the water, but a fast configuration under the
water. Built of western red cedar, she has lovely traditional lines
and is luxuriously fitted out with solid timber. Her teak decks
and polished teak rails afford comfort, luxury and safety
She was built by the owner /operator with world cruising in mind
and is very strong and comfortable. Her main feature is the beautiful
teak timber work that showcases Mal’s workmanship and flair.
Starchaser
was built in survey for passengers with the view to chartering.
Her hull construction is a cedar/epoxy composite and was the first
boat with this construction to achieve survey requirements in Queensland.
Extensive testing of the hull construction was carried out at the
Queensland University.
Starchaser’s construction is now the benchmark for vessels
of her type in Queensland. She conforms to 1B survey in Australian
open waters up to 200 miles offshore.
Starchaser is surveyed to carry a maximum of 24 passengers in Darwin
Harbour. We choose to limit our numbers to 20-22 unless she is chartered
for a party.
